Incontinence/ Pelvic Pain

There is a common belief that if you experience loss of bladder or bowel control or have chronic pelvic pain, especially after childbirth, that you just have to live with it. It isn't true!

1 out of 4 women suffer with Urinary Incontinence at some point in their lives, and it is treatable! In fact, 80% of clients will have tremendous success in only 8-10 sessions. The treatments have been proven to prevent or delay surgical outcomes, and are also very effective for surgical recovery. Above all, with treatment, you will improve your quality of life!

Assessment: is 1 hour, and involves a thorough subjective exam and physical exam, which includes an internal exam that is 10-15 minutes in length. The Physiotherapist will assess pelvic floor muscles, and look for any underlying scar tissue and nerve damage that may be contributing to your problems.

Treatment: if the assessment determines that you are a candidate who will benefit from treatment, your treatment will be 45-60 minutes in length, either weekly or bi-weekly depending on need.
Treatments may consist of:

Manual therapy techniques, where internal palpitation is used to re-educate or restore muscle function

Education, learning about bladder health and control

Functional training

Exercise, learn how to do Kegels right!

Pressure Bio-feedback, where a probe is inserted vaginally, and you complete exercises to restore your pelvic floor muscle function

There are different types of incontinence and Pelvic Floor conditions, so the treatments will vary from person to person.
